As soon as I heard that Jude Law was starring in Shakespeare's 'Henry V' at the Noël Coward Theatre London I knew I had to get tickets!
Henry V is my favourite of Shakespeare's plays and with it starring Jude Law in London this was something not to be missed. Unfortunately, everyone else had the same idea and the only available tickets were on a Wednesday at 2.30pm at the end of dreary January! Despite this I snapped up two tickets as quickly as I could.
To make the most of our trip we decided to travel through the torrential rain from Herefordshire to London on the Tuesday night straight after work. We checked into the superb Levin Hotel which is perfectly sandwiched between Harrods and Harvey Nics in Knightsbridge and grabbed supper at Wagamamas located in the basement of Harvey Nics about 2 minutes walk away.
We woke up on the Wednesday morning to yet more rain but, undeterred, we fought our way to one of my favourite places in London. Fortnum & Mason.
The Fountain Restaurant at Fortnum & Mason is open for breakfast between 7am and 11am and we had promised ourselves one of their wonderful Full English breakfasts on the basis that we wouldn't need any lunch! We happily skipped through the doors at around 10am and were treated to breakfast perfection! Our Full English Breakfasts were accompanied by little baskets of toast in mini F&M Hampers and tea and coffee served in the most exquisite silver tea and coffee pots. The staff were and always are absolutely delightful and they looked after us very well indeed.
When I'm in London I feel like Fortnums is my 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. Its a wonderfully calm place in the middle of crazy London town and I love nothing better to wander around looking at the beautiful little jars of jam, decorative tins of biscuits and caddies of tea they have on sale as well as all of the other lovely things that fill it's six floors.
Fortnum & Mason has been at 181 Piccadilly, London for over 300 years. It's magical and well worth a visit!
After a little bit of shopping at Fortnum & Mason and Regents Street we headed to the theatre in excited anticipation!
Here's the man himself! Well, not quite. It's a photo of a picture and the best I could get!
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures of the performance but we were allowed to take some of the theatre and stage.
The theatre was absolutely beautiful inside and quite small. It was obviously built when people were a lot smaller than we are now!
Jude Law was absolutely spectacular as the 29 year old English King in Michael Grandage's production of Shakespeare's 'Henry V'. Sadly, it finishes on 15th February 2014. I'm not sure whether they have recorded the production for DVD but if it is released at some point it would be well worth getting hold of.
A little after 5pm we all flooded out of the theatre back onto the cold wet streets of London. Tom was clutching his goodies from J Crew!
A short taxi ride past Queenie's residence at Buckingham Palace and we were back at the hotel where we collected our car and reluctantly made our way back up to Herefordshire.
Until next time London!
